 In the last century the central task of Spiritual Science was to prepare humanity for the future emergence of the new supersensible faculties, to make them understandable for those who experience them and for others that do not yet experience them, but would like to understand their meaning and significance in a spiritual-scientific perspective. This task of course continues also today, but a second, more actual task, is added to the first one, and it follows naturally on the first, and this is to unite consciously the new faculties with Spiritual Science. This means that a new starting point for Spiritual Science itself is possible, a starting point which is based, beside our ordinary physical cognition and existence, also on the new etheric cognition and existence. This situation is new, as it could only begin after the new faculties have first emerged in the middle of last century and become mature at the end of the century. The new task of Spiritual Science for the 21st century is to develop the emerging supersensible faculties further, spiritualize them, and transform them into a well researched, well established method of spiritual scientific research and actualize them in new social and cultural creativity and tasks. 

This is what I tried to do in my book, The New Experience of the Supersensible, published in 1995 (second printing with a a biographical interview as new introduction was published in 2008). At that time it was little understood nor welcomed by those for whom it was written. Today, however, in the new century, a far greater readiness is noticeable, to confront this new task of Spiritual Science seriously, and offer it the attention and energy it deserves.
